The Sylvania Wilderness Area AmeriFlux site is located in the Sylvania Wilderness and Recreation Area, an old-growth forest in the Ottawa National Forest in the western Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

Research at the site is part of the Chequamegon Ecosystem-Atmosphere Study (ChEAS), which includes work at several field stations across northern Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, including four flux towers and a number of micrometeorology observation stations.
